Hey occupiers!

I just read an amazing article about an idea that blew me away, and I wanted to share it with you guys for inspiration! the link is:

http://wakeup-world.com/2012/04/12/seattle-creating-massive-edible-forest-filled-with-free-food/

Long story short, Seattle is creating US's first SUSTAINABLE edible forest, and I wonder if there is a way to get the ball rolling on something like that on the east coast!

Anyway, just wanted to share for inspiration!

I am a 22 year old living in Jacksonville Florida . I want to get out of the hustle of city life and retreat to where I can not only enjoy some silence , but commune with the earth. Ive always felt growing food would be an amazing accomplishment and while I have no experience thus far I am a speedy learner and used to manual labor.

Where will the Farmers be on MayDay NYC?

I met Patrick at the rally in Foley Square (NYC) 1/31/12 to support the Monsanto seed case. I would like to mobilize with the Farmers next Tuesday 5/1. I am trying to get my arms around all the different activities that day. I am unable to attend the Thursday 4/26 Open Meeting. Can you update me? Thanks!

Hi Occupy Farms,

We are one of the working groups of Occupy Queens. We will be coordinating efforts to revive a community garden on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church of Newtown in Elmhurst, Queens. This garden was once known as "Greens for Queens". We are looking to network with affinity groups in OWS. If you would like to share information and experiences please contact us. Also check out our blog at http://ourlandfoodwater.blogspot.com/.

LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT DEMAND ONE:Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This danemd can only be met by ending “Freetrade” by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr. Commenters on the issues above suggest that substantial tariffs could restore badly needed manufacturing jobs to Americans, perhaps a tariff that would reduce the cost differential that much lower wages abroad create. But the hot item is the focus on the minimum wage. Other commenters on the minimum wage acknowledge its impact on inflation, but fail to consider the impact it would have on immigration. Imagine an end to the mantra jobs American workers won't do which really means jobs that don't pay enough to make it worthwhile for American workers to do. Twenty dollars an hour might be steep, even though it is only about three times the minimum wage now, but it would make seriously unpleasant work less unpleasant. That may be a baby in the bathwater we should look at closely from the point of view, Is it good for the diverse white American peoples ?

Wow, really?! Because we need an electrical engineer to solve a major problem on our farm. We have a medium-small (bigger than micro, 36" pipe, 42 horsepower at the wheel, generator can make 95 KW) hydro plant, built in '73. It has no regulator so we have to run a constant load on it and can't put our cooler or freezers on the power because they cycle on and off. So we just use the power for lights and heat in the winter. So in the summer we pay $200-400/ month electric bills. Which we can't afford. And the other problem is it makes 170 volts rather than 120. Give a call, we'd love to host you up here, or at least have some distance consultation. But you want to see this thing, it's pretty neat.
